Wondering how to set up DKIM, SPF, and DMRC for Google🤔? There's some help for you. Take a look at our step-by-step guide. 👇
SPF - Sender Policy Framework
1️⃣ Log in to your domain account on your domain host's website (Note: This is not your Google Admin Console).
a. It can be anything like GoDaddy, Squarespace, etc.
2️⃣ Update your domain's DNS records.
a. DNS Management, Name Server Management, or Advanced Settings
3️⃣ Find TXT records and see if there is an existing SPF record for your domain.
a. The SPF record begins with something like 'v=spf1...'. This trick will help you spot it easily.
4️⃣ Remove the existing SPF record.
5️⃣ You can create a TXT record with the following values,
a. Name/Host/Alias - You can either enter @ or leave it blank
b. Your domain's other DNS records might show the correct entry.
c. TTL - Time to live - Either enter 3600 or let the default value remain.
d. Value/Answer/Destination - Enter v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all.
6️⃣ It would take around 48 hours⌛to take effect.
DKIM - Domain Key Identified Mail
1️⃣ Sign in to Google Admin: admin.google.com
a. Go to the navigation menu on the left - Menu > Apps > GSuite > Gmail
2️⃣ Get a DKIM key generated.
3️⃣ With the DKIM Key generated, create a DNS TXT record
a. To do that you will require your domain providers such as GoDaddy and Namecheap.
4️⃣ Once you finish creating the DNS TXT record in your domain with the DKIM Key, you can begin authenticating.
DMARC - Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance
1️⃣ Visit the website 🌐 of your domain administrator and find DNS Management or settings.
2️⃣ To your DNS, you can add the following TXT record:
a. Host Name: _dmarc
b. VALUE (with email): v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; rua=mailto:{email}; pct=90; sp=none
The email ✉️ you mention here will receive the reports from the email version. It is optional and the value without email is the following:
VALUE (no email): v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; pct=90; sp=none
You can verify whether the DNS settings are correctly set up here.
