Free BIMI Record Checker

Verify your BIMI record, logo and mark certificate — and the DMARC enforcement your brand logo depends on.

Check a BIMI record

Enter your sending domain to inspect its BIMI record, DMARC prerequisite, logo and mark certificate.

Most domains use the selector “default”, which looks up default._bimi.yourdomain.com.

Privacy: we query public DNS for your domain’s BIMI and DMARC records and fetch the logo and certificate URLs published in the record over HTTPS to validate them. Nothing you enter and nothing we find is stored or shared.

How it works

Enter your domain

Type the domain you send email from. We look up the BIMI TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com, or at a custom selector if you use one.

We check the record and its prerequisites

The record syntax is validated against the current BIMI specification, and your DMARC policy is verified because BIMI only works when DMARC enforces with quarantine or reject.

We validate the logo and certificate

The published SVG logo and VMC/CMC certificate URLs are fetched over HTTPS with strict safety limits and inspected for format, size and security problems.

Get a clear verdict and fixes

You see a plain-language status for every check plus a prioritized list of findings, so you know exactly what to fix before mailbox providers will consider showing your logo.

What this tool does and does not tell you

  • This checker validates your published BIMI configuration. Mailbox providers such as Gmail, Yahoo and Apple make their own final decision about displaying a logo, and most currently require a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) issued for a registered trademark; some providers are beginning to accept Common Mark Certificates (CMC). Provider requirements change — always confirm against current provider documentation.
  • A certificate file that parses correctly is only reported as an observation. Trust-chain verification and trademark validation are not performed, so a parseable VMC/CMC is not proof that providers will accept it.
  • DNS timeouts and unreachable asset URLs are reported as unknown or failed states, never as passing checks.
  • A valid BIMI setup is not a guarantee of inbox placement; it only controls whether your brand logo is eligible for display next to your messages.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a BIMI record?

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is a DNS TXT record that tells participating mailbox providers where to find your brand logo. When everything is set up correctly, providers can show your logo next to your emails in the inbox, which helps recipients recognize and trust your messages.

Why does BIMI require DMARC?

BIMI proves the logo belongs to the sending domain, so providers only honor it when the domain is protected against spoofing. Your DMARC policy must enforce with p=quarantine or p=reject; a monitoring-only p=none policy means your logo will not be considered.

What is the difference between a VMC and a CMC?

A Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) is issued by an approved certificate authority for a registered trademark and is currently required by providers such as Gmail and Yahoo. A Common Mark Certificate (CMC) covers logos without a registered trademark and is accepted by a smaller set of providers. This checker detects and parses the certificate but does not verify its trust chain.

What format must my BIMI logo be?

The logo must be a square SVG file in the SVG Tiny Portable/Secure profile, served over HTTPS as image/svg+xml. It may not contain scripts, event handlers, external references or embedded raster images, and it should stay under 32 KB.

What is a BIMI selector?

A selector lets you publish more than one BIMI record, for example for different brands under one domain. Almost everyone uses the selector “default”, which means the record lives at default._bimi.yourdomain.com. Only change it if you deliberately published a record under a different selector.

My record is valid but my logo still does not show. Why?

Each mailbox provider applies its own rules, caching and certificate requirements, and some only show logos for senders with an established sending history. A passing result here means your configuration is correct — it cannot guarantee that every provider will display the logo.
